The subjects of Utopia and Dystopia are very broad and complex but it would be interesting to see how human traits and weakness are denying a Utopian society and actually causing more of a Dystopia. An obvious example is the Holocaust where there was an attempt to kill millions in effort to create a sort of ‘master race’. Leaders such as Adolph Hilter (1889-1945) may have looked at this in a way of creating a Utopia with a perfect set of human beings but was also creating Dystopia for the millions of victims, most notably the Jewish community. The Holocaust exhibition in London shows images (Image 1) of how there was a system in place that measured people’s features to ensure they were within specific limits to be classed as suitable for the ‘master race’, which was called the Aryan race.
